I love bugs, too, Charles. Have you ever petted a bumblebee? They are so soft and docile.
My best guess on that species is the Eastern Comma, or Polygomia comma. Hard to say, there are so many mimics. I'm going by the white tips on the antennae to help with the uneducated guess.
